Muhammadiyah successfully inaugurated a mega retail business called Mentari Mart as a form of contribution and support in building the economic prosperity of the nation and state. The inauguration was held on February 26 at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) to coincide with the National Coordination Meeting on Economics. Mentari Mart will further strengthen and form a better Muhammadiyah economic ecosystem and strengthen the existing network in various regions.
In this regard, Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si. said that Muhammadiyah has been coherent with various government policies, especially in the economic field. As in the era of President Prabowo's leadership, who wanted food and clothing sovereignty, fulfillment of nutrition for the people, and efficiency in the economic sphere. Haedar emphasized that in the future Muhammadiyah will continue to increase economic efforts in various fields, not only in the aspect of MSMEs but also pioneering Muhammadiyah-owned business programs.
"InsyaAllah, with this step, Muhammadiyah is not only working to enlighten religious understanding so that it remains moderate in strengthening national unity, but also to advance the people's economy. I believe that the collective strength of the nation can collaborate to create a powerful movement in boosting the national economy. Pray that Muhammadiyah continues to pioneer and remain consistent in taking steps in business and MSMEs," he stated.
Furthermore, Haedar explained that Muhammadiyah has been advancing the economy for a long time by advancing various MSMEs and large-scale business economies. According to him, if you want to advance in the economic field, you must take progressive steps. So, collaborating with larger retailers is one of the steps taken as a form of developing Muhammadiyah-owned retail businesses.
"If small shops around us lack capital, we will provide it for them. If their products are not guaranteed due to expiration, we can supply them with more reliable goods. I am confident that Muhammadiyah's economic council can collaborate to empower small shops and enhance businesses at the middle-class level," he added.
Finally, he said that Muhammadiyah hopes to contribute greatly in the economic field. Because according to him, Muhammadiyah is not a conglomerate economy, but a populist economy that is progressive to be more advanced. “InsyaAllah, with this economic movement, we can contribute to building the country's prosperity. So that changes in courage in steps need to be made if we want to move forward,” he said. (zaf/wil/ind)
