The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was assigned the task of organizing Pekan Olahraga Mahasiswa Daerah (POMDA) of Futsal by the East Java Indonesian Student Sports Guidance Agency (BAPOMI) for the Malang and Surabaya Zones and also the host of East Java Regional qualifications.
Dr. Haris Thofly, SH., M. Hum as the chief executive who was also Chair of the City Association (Askot) PSSI Malang said, East Java Pomda was divided into eight zones. "Namely the Surabaya Zone, Malang Zone, Jember Zone, Madura Zone, Bojonegoro Zone, Madiun Zone, Kediri Zone, and Ponorogo Zone," he said.

Haris continued, that each champion from the eight zones will be reunited in the final round or regional qualification on July 22 to 24 at the UMM Dome. "Right now, it's still Pre-Qualification to determine the champions of the zones," he said on the sidelines of the opening of Pomda.
UMM, continued Haris at GOR Ken Arok, at Pomda, got special regulation as the organizing committee in the form of Wild Card. So that without participating in the Pre-Qualification team, UMM Futsal qualified automatically and waited in the qualifying round with the champions between the East Java Regional zones.
In this Malang Zone Pre-Qualification, there were four teams that participated. They were from the State University of Malang (UM), Brawijawa University (UB), Kanjuruhan University Malang (Unikama) and University of Tribhuana Tunggadewi (Unitri). It was taking place from 8-10 July at GOR Ken Arok, Malang.

While for the Surabaya Zone, nine teams participated. They were from Narotama University, Hang Tuah University, Uisla, University of Surabaya (Ubaya), Wijaya Kusuma University, Dr. Soetomo University (Unitomo), Airlangga University (Airlangga University), Surabaya State University (Unesa), and Adi Buana PGRI.
This activity was made as the first gate to represent the East Java Pomnas Team in September. "Half of the Pomnas players will take from the team which become a winner, while half of them will be selected from the players who do not qualify for the championship," said the man who was also an assistant to the Dean of FH UMM.
