The Centre for Strategic Studies of the National Amil Zakat Agency (Puskas Baznas) held the National Seminar on Zakatnomics and Public Expose 2019, Thursday (12/19). The seminar in collaboration with the Faculty of Islamic Religion, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (FAI-UMM) presented at least five of the seventeen research products produced during 2019. This national seminar raised the theme "Strengthening the Pillars of Zakat Research Approaching the BAZNAS 2020 Strategic Plan".

"In order to improve the implementation of the distribution and utilization of zakat, BAZNAS considers it very important that these programs can be based on research and studies because we really want the programs that we implement in the field we can continue to develop based on the things we find in the field, "explained Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, PhD, as the Head of Puskas BAZNAS in his speech.

To make it happen, BAZNAS had been developing it since 2017 through the BAZNAS Strategic Study Centre program institute. During the past two years, many studies had been produced which were immediately implemented in every program that was owned and applied to BAZNAS branches throughout Indonesia. The results of the study were disseminated by presenting UMM lecturers as panellists in each session.

The agenda, continued by Hasbi, was also at the same time an endeavour in mainstreaming the economic concept of Zakatnomics, which was defined as awareness to build a new economic order to achieve happiness, life balance and the ultimate human dignity based on a spirit of productivity, a spirit of economic charity (halal) as well as the spirit of manifesting alms, giving alms and endowments in the practice of life.

BAZNAS had placed the sacred teachings of zakat as an inspiration of civilization in the economic field. BAZNAS invited economists to put zakat into a holistic system. "The zakat fund and its intermediation are social finance, but the economic teachings of zakat as in the letter at-Taubah verse 60, contain at least 4 pillars of struggle namely monotheism, productivity, muamalah which is lawful, and various economic implementations," Hasbi explained.

The first pillar of Zakatnomicss was monotheism which meant that the God of economic activity was money. What was pursued and sought from the economic activity was a strong faith in God Almighty Rizki. "Obedience to God as God from economic behaviour becomes the basic foundation of Zakat economics," said Hasbi in the front of the White Campus academic community and hundreds of participants who came from the invited guests.

The second pillar of Zakatnomics was productivity. Here zakat had a function to empower, teach and encourage people to live as productive people. According to Hasbi, productivity was not measured by how much the results were obtained and compared them with the efforts made. The concept of productivity was the spirit of producing work ideas and positive things from a human being to be able to present the work of civilization.

The third pillar of Zakatnomics was Islamic economics. This economic and Islamic pillar was the application of the economy in a halal and toyib way. "The book of muamalah should inspire that in this life, it is not permissible to usury, fraud, steal, reduce the scale, just pay the wages while the sweat had not dried up, and so forth. Furthermore, this is taught by Rosulullah and Friends and pious people, "he said.

The last or fourth pillar of Zakatnomics was the implementation of zakat, donations and endowments because this generous civilization had to be practised. "Where, the rich muzakki spend their zakat funds. Amil manages it and it is given to mustahik to be empowered and also others asnaf arise and are strong with the zakat funds they receive. These four pillars of struggle should be able to underlie the whole of the economic spirit, this is the concept of Zakatnomic, "Hazbi said.

Besides the presentation of the results of research 2019, it was hoped that the zakat distribution through the results of the Puskas BAZNAS research during 2019 could be felt by various levels of society at large. This activity became a venue for sharpening the Zakatnomics concept and producing important resolutions for the development of zakat research in order to support the achievement of the Renstra BAZNAS 2020 targets with researchers, practitioners, zakat academics, the media and the general public.

UMM Rector Dr. Fauzan, MPd. when lined up the opening ceremony revealed that the world of zakat was a pragmatic world based on a high theological conviction so that trust in the implementation of zakat management must also be high. "So, in addition to good management or zakat management, it also needs people who are committed to be able to manage zakat so that it is managed optimally," he said. (win)
