A number of officials from Guangxi Normal University, People's Republic of China visited the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on Wednesday (26/6). The visit was intended to meet with White Campus leaders to negotiate offers for a number of academic programs for students and lecturers of both parties.
Some of the negotiated programs included apprenticeship and doctoral education or the equivalent of S3. Collaboration between UMM and Guangxi Normal University had been conducted before through the Chinese language course scheme through the Confucious Institute. This course had even been required in a number of Departments (Prodi).
Dr. Ir. Listiari Hendraningsih as the secretary of the International Relations Office (IRO) of UMM stated that this meeting was only limited by a number of Departments. Thus UMM Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin who was in charge of academics wanted this opportunity to be reached by other Departments.

"Commonly this collaboration is good and is needed by both parties, both Guangxi Normal University and UMM. In the future, there will be a student exchange and bilateral relations with various schemes that will be carried out by representatives of lecturers from each Department, "said Mrs. Listiari after the event.
However, acknowledged by Listiari, the problem was that in every subject was required to write using Hanzi letters and Chinese. "This is the most difficult factor. We still have to encourage it to increase the enthusiasm of the lecturers in continuing to practice writing Hanzi letters, "Listiari added after the event.

Added by Djoko Sigit Sayogo, S.E., M.Acc., Ph.D. Ka. from the division of Cooperation and Application of Science and Technology DPPM stated, UMM wanted to establish cooperation in the form of Community Service, which was related to KKN and internships. For lecturers, the scheme that was implemented was the provision of three-level or doctoral scholarships in China.
The cooperation that will be conducted was also in the form of short term for 2 months for several Departments. A 6-months scholarship was also offered from the English Departments, but it was still negotiated with policies ranging from costs and other matters. No less important, UMM also offered research collaboration that was done together. (Win)
