The high workload causes the occurrence of stress symptoms. A person's stress level can be caused by various factors. Starting from the level of income, workload, to other problems that are never imagined. Furthermore, excessive stress can cause depression and even psychiatric disorders.

You don't need to worry. Look at the design innovation of a group of students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) who won the ASEAN Innovation Science and Entrepreneur Fair 2020 event at BG Junction Bubutan Surabaya, February 14-16, 2020.

The innovation that won the Silver Medal was titled "Stress Relief Therapy with a Natural Music Chair". This entrepreneurship-based technology innovation was a design from Dicky Marcellino Akbar, Ardi BC, Kholil Maharno, Hadi Purnomo, Revaldo Yuanda.

This chair used audio and Arduino (a computing platform) and proximity sensor as a detector when the user sat and then the chair will automatically play the music. Whereas at a certain centre on the chair used vibrations with vibrate and Arduino modules as therapy.

"In fact, stress can also cause some problems in the body that are actually trivial, but quite disturbing," said Dicky Marcellino, one of the group members when interviewed on Monday (17/2).

When someone feels stress, the body read it as an attack or a threat. When someone has pressure, the body would produce various stress hormones, such as adrenaline, cortisol, and norepinephrine.

"The increase in stress hormones in the body makes the heart beat faster due to increased heart rate, breathing becomes faster and shorter, muscles tighten, blood pressure rises, anxiety is easy, difficulty sleeping, so it is difficult to think clearly," continued Dicky.

The hypothesis of this group states, between the intensity of listening to music and someone's stress using Kendall's test method was concluded that listening to music could reduce stress. (win)
