Through the Green Village Concept, UMM Students Invited the People of Tambak Rejo to Protect the Environment

The Community Service Program 98 (KKN) Group Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) successfully inaugurated the Green Village on Monday (5/8). The program initiated by KKN 98 UMM together with the Tambak Rejo hamlet community was inaugurated in Plandi Village by the Head of Wonosari District.

The event which was held in the Tambak Rejo Village Gate, Plandi Village, Malang Regency was divided into two sessions. The first session was the inauguration of the "Green Village" which was inaugurated by the Head of Wonosari Subdistrict, the Second Session was a location review with all invited guests.

According to the Village Coordinator of KKN 98 UMM, Dandy M. Reza in his speech, Green Village had a concept of a green area that is integrated with various aspects such as healthy living programs, handicrafts, and good and correct waste management.

The event was attended by more than fifty participants. Also present were all hamlet and village level officials including the Head of Wonosari District, PKK Chairperson, Chairperson of the Dasa Wisma and Community from three Plandi Village hamlets which were Selobekiti Hamlet, Tambak Rejo Hamlet, Pandan Ploso Hamlet.

"Hopefully Tambak Rejo Hamlet is not underestimated as a remote hamlet, but Tambak Rejo Hamlet is known as a hamlet that has a variety of potential in all things such as vegetables, and others," said the executive officer, Sulistyoningrum Dalu Lestari.

Meanwhile according to Drs. A Muzaki, Head of Wonosari Subdistrict, with the existence of this Green Village, hopefully, this village can use environmentally friendly materials for its daily needs. Hoping this program will not stop at the time of the inauguration but will continue to the Tambak Rejo hamlet community.

In line with that, the newly elected Village Head agreed to continue and develop this program more broadly in other hamlets. Continuing in his remarks, he explained that the community was expected to become more concerned about the environment through this Green Village.

UMM KKN 98 was a thematic entrepreneurship KKN guided by UMM lecturer, Setyo Wahyu S.E., M.E as the Wonosari KKN field assistant lecturer. This Community Service Program conducted for 28 days starting from 18 July 2019 and ending on 16 August 2019. (Win)
