The Professional Certification Institute (LSP) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a Workshop on Harmonization of Competency Certification Management which was attended by the Head of the Laboratory, Head of the Department and all UMM Academics. It took place in the Hall of GKB IV lt. 4 UMM Campus III. Saturday (21/12).
The event discussed the harmonization of competency certification schemes. "At UMM, at least of the 65 existing schemes, 100% were born from the department because the department knows what they are teaching and what schemes need to be made, "explained Ihyaul Ulum, Chairman of the UMM LSP.
The workshop also created a Competency Standards Model, industrial system SOP, curriculum and assessment to ensure linkages between industry and education. "I think, there are two things related to the existence of the LSP itself. The first is the industry's demand for graduates to be ready to work according to their fields. Because until now, the industry still feels the need to make management training because graduates are not ready to go into field so that the industry sometimes has to pay those who are not yet ready to jump in, "said Ir. Surono MPhil., P.G.D as the speaker of the UMM LSP Workshop.
"The second is you must be competent, have integrity, have a good attitude, have high productivity, and professional. I think this is what is needed by the industry today, "continued Surono.
"In addition, there are two requirements that we are reviewing, one of them is ensuring that the Department Accreditation at UMM gets a minimum score of 3.25 and the number of publications primarily, both in the form of national and international journals in order to achieve this value. So that graduates' competencies can also be ready or not go in the field, "said Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin. M.Si as Vice-Rector 1 of UMM. (win)
