This situation made the government through the Indonesian Consulate General initiated various methods for the education of PMI children so that they would continue to receive knowledge. Indonesia was negotiating with the Malaysian government to establish alternative schools. This negotiation was successful, Indonesia got permission to establish an alternative school. The enthusiasm of Indonesian citizens was great. For the first establishment, there were only 1,000 students studying.

In 2008, Indonesia negotiated again with Malaysia to establish a larger scope of learning called the Community Learning Centre (CLC). The government was serious about dealing with various problems faced by Indonesian citizens in Malaysia, especially education for children. "You who are KKN there, let's help educate the children of Indonesian citizens to be broad-minded and love Indonesia," said the man who had been a temporary lecturer at FISIP UMM.

Besides the international KKN scheme in Kinabalu, Malaysia, UMM students were also distributed to a number of regions. For the East Java region was Malang Raya, Probolinggo City, Tulungagung Regency and Madiun Regency.
