Preserve Relationship, UMM Hold a Parent Meeting

A gathering tradition of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) leaders with the parents / guardian of the new students were held, Saturday (15/6). This gathering was opened with the submissions of the Bank Jatim scholarship to the best students in the Batch I test.

UMM Rector Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd in his speech, said that the purpose of the meeting is talking about the coaching between the parents and the university role, and also for a deeper recognition of UMM.

 “We show the proof to all of the parents who wants the truth about how, who, and like what the UMM students study in this White Campus,” he said.

Furthermore, to show that proof, Fauzan share the planned program in the next 2019/2020 which is 3+1. This program is in the form of class learning that can be done in 3 years period of time and the next 1 year will be for on-the-job training.

“We started this program through certified internship collaboration with 144 BUMN and private corporations. This will be their valuable experience as an UMM prospective graduates, so that they are ready to take part in the community,” said Fauzan in front of three thousands guests.

By means of insight and skills enrichment in setting up the students in the world of work, UMM already sent 98 certified internship students to various BUMN companies in Indonesia. There are, Jasa Tirta I Housing, PT Kereta Api Industry, PT PELINDO III, PT Angkasa Pura I, and PT Pertamina.

Not just 3+1 program, Fauzan said that in the students development, UMM offers more than 180 UMM official organizations to be opened for UMM students according to the interests and talent. He asks the parents to keep on motivate their sons and daughters to be active in an organization.

 “Learning about organization is important, because it has a relation with mental endurance, independent, problem solving, learn to socialize and learning about decision making in an organization,” explained Fauzan.

Fauzan hope after this meeting, parents may help and responsible in the educational process. “We will make a serious efforts in carrying out this trusteeship and educate all of the students,” he said.

Importantly, he said, is related with the rahmatan lil alamin religiousness. Considering UMM is not only belongs and for Muslims, but also for every Indonesian society who have the spirit of KH. Ahmad Dahlan in establishing Muhammadiyah. (joh)
