One hundred UMM graduates were made to be digipreneur

Who doesn't want to work or create their own Start-up companies like Bukalapak, Tokopedia, GOJEK and others? This opportunity might be achieved by a new graduate from the Informatics Engineering Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) through a Digital Talent Scholarship 2019 (DTS 2019) scholarship. This program was a collaboration between UMM and the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia.

Through the DTS 2019 Fresh Graduate Academy (FGA) program, for a month, 100 selected graduates were trained to have professional competence which was appropriate with the development of science and technology in the era of industrial revolution 4.0. They received training themes namely Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Internet of Things, and Machine Learning.

"The FGA program is held for 144 hours of lessons which include face-to-face training (offline), companion classes or add-on, competency testing, and certification. The companion class or add-on that will be obtained by FGA participants is digital entrepreneurship (Digipreneur) and Soft Skills Development, "said Gita Indah Marthasari, S.T, M.Kom, Head of Information Technology Department on Monday (1/7)

Meanwhile, Soft Skills Development aimed to make Digital Talent Scholarship 2019 participants become individuals who can compete in the digital era, have initiatives, act effectively and be able to adjust to the world of work. The training will be conducted online through the e-learning platform. "The material will be delivered by professional personnel in the form of videos and presentations," explained Gita.

This training will be held every Monday-Friday starting at 08.00-12.00 WIB in several Informatics Engineering laboratories located in the 6th Floor of GKB 3. "We hope that with this provision, we can improve our ability and confidence and opportunities in the future that will be wider open" said Dr. Ir. Samin, MT. as Vice Dean 1, Faculty of Engineering.

UMM became one of the universities of eleven private universities spread throughout Indonesia that collaborated with the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information in the execution. Universities in this program had the role of providing facilities and infrastructure and training which is appropriate with the training scheme. At the end of the training, trainees will be certified competency by global tech companies. (Win)
