Nationality Synergy, INTI-UMM Sign an MoU

Chinese Indonesian Association (INTI) visited University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on Monday (7/15) afternoon. During thevisit, INTI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UMM in terms of improving the quality of human resources, education, research and community service.

According to INTI Association Chairman, Teddy Sugianto, Muhammadiyah Universities (PTM), especially UMM, has a serious determination in developing various potentials of the society.

During the visit, UMM Rector, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. looks familiar with INTI members. This is because of the synergy was frequently built by both parties. One of the latest collaborations initiated by UMM and INTI is the second Nationality Festival held on April 6.

The National Festival was attended by Vice President of the Republic Indonesia, Dr. Drs. H. Muhammad Jusuf Kalla who inaugurate various students and societies support facilities around UMM. Teddy said that the first direct INTI visit to UMM was a form of commitment in building the nation.

Fauzan said, in the framework of shared welfare there was no known difference. This is an obligation that must be carried out by every human being. “Just like when K.H Ahmad Dahlan founded PKO (General Misery Aid), he just wants the surrounding community to get a cheap treatment,” he said.

Muhammadiyah University, he continued, in Sorong Papua is 70% non-Muslim. This shows that Muhammadiyah education is not only for Muslims. The spirit of K.H Ahmad Dahlan is the one that maintained it until now.

“Hopefully the cooperation in developing the potential of this community within the scope of education can run massively and of course have an impact,”Fauzan concluded. (joh)
