Expert Staff for National Resilience at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Marsda TNI Ahmad Sajili said, the economic development of ASEAN keep on growing in the middle of global economic fluctation. While, with the numbers of population reaching about 634 Million, Indonesian record in Gross domestic product reaching 2,6 Billion USD.
“By this potention, It is expected that in 2020 ASEAN becomes the 5th biggest economic power in the world. In 2030, It is expected to be the 4th biggest in the world after European Union, United States of America and People's Republic of China,” said Sajili in the ASEAN Community Information Dissemination event with “Political and Security Challenges in the Region” as the theme in UMM, Monday (22/4).
Ahmad Sajili as the speaker in the public lecture in front of hundreds ofFaculty of Social Science and Political Science students that organized by ASEAN Study Center (PSA) UMM. This event was also attended by UMM Rector Dr. H. Fauzan, M.Pd, Brigjen Pol. Anthoni Hutabarat, Assistant Deputy for ASEAN Cooperation Widya Rahmanto and the Academic Community of Fisip UMM. This discussion was also moderated by Peggy Puspa Hapsari M.Sc., M.Si as the Head of PSA.

Today, ASEAN has passed the age of 50 years since it was established in 1967 and preparing themselves through the formation of MEA 2020 society. By the existence of ASEAN, the society are able to live the life of plural society peacefully. “It is because, there are so many influence from the big country, border and territorial dispute, until interest’s difference,” he said.
This cooperation event is one of the programs from the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs as a pillar coordinator of ASEAN Political and Security Community that responsible for disseminating National Stakeholders. “So, it is not only giving the information but also receiving suggestions, so that the ASEAN community can play a role in implementing the ASEAN action plan,” said Sajili.
After talking about the Political Resilience in the ASEAN region, related with the Presidency program 2019 – 2066 about the Human Resource, universities have moral responsibility in answering this challenge. “Because any stability of political security determined by firstly economy and secondly skills,” said UMM Rector Fauzan in his greeting speech.

“In this context, strengthening the educational aspect is one of the important part in order to create a superior Human Resources. It is because Human Resource becomes a very dominant variable to determine the nation direction. So that, students need to be a maximum people, people who always think optimally, and people that always ideal. Those are the point in raising up our nation,” he said. (joh)
