A total of 2600 candidate new students (CAMABA) at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) took the selection test of regular 1, Saturday (11/5) morning. They competed to get seats as undergraduate level students and a diploma in White Campus. The exam was centred in Campus III UMM, which were in Gedung Kuliah Bersama (GKB) I to IV, and the UMM BAU Auditorium Building.
In this first test, the Faculty of Medicine was still a favourite of the examinees. Around 850 participants chose the Medical Department. Even, to anticipate fraud, UMM had mobilized officers from the police and internal security. This was done to avoid the practice of jockeying which was by conducting a search into each class.
Dr. Saiman, M.Sc. as the head of UMM New Student Admissions (PMB), the ceiling of acceptance in the first batch was between 20 and 25 per cent while second and third batch, between 25 and 30 per cent. Especially for the medical faculty, the implementation of selection test of the third batch did not accept the selection participants and some Departments that had fulfilled the quota.
