UMM introduced Tableau Software, Data Visualization which Supported Smart City

The Informatics Engineering Department of the University of Muhamadiyah Malang (UMM) held a Tableau workshop; Data Visualization to Support Smart City held at Gedung Kuliah Bersama (GKB 3) UMM (12/10). The agenda was based on the importance of handling Big Data, including data analysis, which was increasingly being realized by businesses, industry, students and even government institutions themselves.

The agenda that was held a day contained the introduction of Tableau software, the practice of data visualization (visual analysis, filters and mapping) and publishing data (calculations, stories and dashboards, and publishing Tableau) which was divided into two classes for the public, namely from relevant government agencies and students college in Indonesia.

By cooperating with expert data presenter from Kata.ai Platform Resa Primasatya, Indonesian Data Scientist Achmad Wilda Al Aziz and Yufis Azhar, M.Kom was UMM Informatics Engineering lecturers who were also competent see visualization opportunities from the implementation of big data through the Tableau platform that could support the formation of smart City.

Participated by participants from several Regional Governments such as the Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA & BALITBANGDA) Batu City and Pasuruan, Communication and Information Technology (KOMINFO) Trenggalek, Bangkalan, Sidoarjo, Indonesian Citrus and Subtropical Fruit Research Institute (BALITJESTRO) Batu and a number of universities namely UNAIR, UPN, UB, and UMM.

In his opening, the Chief Executive who was also a lecturer in Informatics Engineering Department Christian S.K.Aditya., M.kom stated, In the era of increasingly rapidly developing digital technology was one of the factors that could affect the explosion of data. "It is hoped that through this workshop, it can bridge practitioners, academics and government in welcoming the development of smart cities in Indonesia," he said.

By using the drag and drop facility of tables, graphics and other designs in the Tableau software, it was expected to be able to visually read and analyse data from different points of view so that the data was not monotonous and could obtain good decisions in supporting the existence of smart cities, "added Yuvis as the speaker.
