After doing preparation well, the debate team at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) got the runner-up in the Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI) District II LLDIKTI Region VII of East Java, Wednesday (10/4). This competition brought together 18 teams from 18 universities.
In the beginning, the UMM debater team consisting of M. Fitrah Ashary Bangun, Ibnu Sofyani and chaired by Wildan Arif conducted an internal selection stage (UMM) before being elected as UMM representative to compete in the debate competition held by the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI).
"Alhamdulillah, the university is very supportive of us. Even we are often given suggestion and evaluations to improve some of our shortcomings, "said Wildan, telling his experience taking part in a prestigious competition for students at Muhammadiyah Ponorogo University (UMP), Thursday (11/4).

Although the competition was held coinciding with the Middle Test (UTS), Wildan CS admitted to still focus on the competition being held. This happened because, he admitted, UMM gave full support to the three students who made the name of the White Campus great.
Wildan, who is the chairman of the Research and Debate Community (KRD), said that aside from diligent training, building chemistry was one of the important factors. "We practice three times a day and we almost do it every day, sometimes on campus, rented house, or even a coffee shop," he said.
KDMI this time discussed several themes such as education, economics, development, politics, sports and law. After struggling for 2 days at the UMP, finally, the UMM debater team had to face the Widya Mandala Catholic University in the semi-finals before finally had to face the host in the final.

For the next, UMM will be host at the end of next April. This appointment was based on the progress of the UMM delegation which often won various debate competitions in various regions, both regionally and nationally. Wildan and his teammates welcomed this prestigious agenda.
