The Activist Reunion momentum and Economic Faculty of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) 90-95s generation, also the Gathering of Alumni Family (IKA) UMM, Saturday (27/7), initiated with MoU signing between UMM and Kutai Kertanegara (Kutai) District Government in the Vocational Education Center Establishment.
Drs. Edi Damansyah. M.Si, Kukar Regent attend for signing the MoU witnessed by the Minister of Education and Culture Republic Indonesia Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.A.P., Pasuruan Regent M. Irsyad Yusuf, S.E, MMA also as the Chairman of IKA UMM, along with UMM Rector, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd.

Based on the statistical data, the natural resource (SDA) in the form of oil and gas (Migas) as the highest economical contributor sector which reaches 63%. However, after learning from another country that only relies on SDA and experiences a setback, Edi considers that a new solution is needed in the construction process.
“If the non-renewable resources run out so we need to prepare Human Resource (SDM) development sector which is Education,” said Kukar Regent in front of White Campus Alumni. This cooperation, said Edi, is important as a form of initiation in improving the quality of Indonesian SDM.

In addition to utilizing ex-mining land and building assets, the scope of the agreement also develops vocational education centers in several fields. Those are agro-complex, information and communication technology, tourism, health logistics management, until the creative economy development.
The establishment and development of the Vocational Education Center in the form of the Polytechnic utilized the land and assets of the ex-mine owned by the Kukar Government.“The chosen landis intended to stigmatize the people that unused mining land cannot be used again," Edi explained.
“My message is to all of the elements here, hopefully, we can instill a Work Culture or Corporate Culture and good discipline for the next generation. This is intended towards a better nation,” said Prof. Dr. Muhajir Effendy, M.A.P who is also Deputy Chairperson of UMM Daily Advisory Board.
“This collaboration happened because of an active role of the UMM Alumni Association in East Kalimantan (Kaltim). Thank you for all the contributions that have been given. Hopefully, this gathering will further expand and strengthen the success of alumni in all across Indonesia,” said UMM Rector Dr. H. Fauzan, M.Pd. (joh)
