Obama Threatens Syria if use Chemical Weapons

VIVAnews - U.S. President Barack Obama gave a warning to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad not to use chemical weapons in the fight against the rebels. The U.S. threatened to act if Syria reckless use of chemical weapons.

"Today I want to make sure to Assad that the whole world watching," Obama said as quoted by Aljazeera page, Monday, December 3, 2012.

"The use of chemical senjaata not acceptable at all and if you make a tragic mistake by using this weapon, there will be consequences, and you will suffer the consequences," Obama added.

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton insisted his country will not remain silent if the Assad regime's use of chemical weapons. However, he did not specify what action will be taken of it. "But suffice to say, we definitely plan to take action if the chances of that happening," Clinton said from Prague, Czech Republic.

Earlier, the White House said the U.S. and its allies suspect the deployment of chemical weapons in Syria. White House spokesman, Jay Carney, said the Syrian opposition forces have grown to be more powerful. He said the government would not be able to stem Syrian opposition forces.

The conflict between the Assad regime to the rebel groups have been going for months on Syria. Along the way, falling casualties, including civilians. The team from the UN mediator failed to reconcile the two sides.
