Ruang Baca Cerdas (RBC) of the University of Muhammadiyah and PPI AMF continued their Safari Literacy agenda. The team visited two schools in East Java, one at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Candi and the other at Muhammadiyah Institute in Bangkalan. The event was a follow-up to the previous safari literacy that was successfully held in Surabaya. Hundreds of books were presented to encourage students' interest in reading, especially to develop a love of reading among students.
The Executive Director of RBC, Subhan Setowara MA, said that this safari has indeed been conducted by his team on a regular basis. It is not only in the Malang area but also in various cities and even other provinces. The Mobil Terbang (Kontribusi Terhadap Bangsa) brought a various and interesting book collection to the event. Starting from novels, illustrated books, to motivational books. It makes the children very enthusiastic to explore the books provided.

One of the main highlights during safari literacy is the read-along session and fun games with prizes. The activities added excitement and also motivated the children to get to know and appreciate the world of literacy. The children seemed eager to participate in every game and activity. They played ball games, rope games, and charades. It is a great way to show that learning can be carried out in a fun way.
Subhan hopes that through this literacy safari, children can discover a passion for reading that will take them further in the future. Literacy is the key to unlocking countless doors of opportunity. Through this event, we want to encourage them to become good readers and writers as well as critical thinkers in the future. Especially considering Indonesia's PISA ranking, which only ranks 7th in ASEAN. PISA is a survey that measures numeracy, literacy, and language.
"This is our attempt to be able to improve the literacy interest. However, our efforts are not sufficient, so we invite other people to do the same thing. Hopefully, RBC and PPI AMF's initiative to provide a mobile library can be well followed and implemented by other institutions,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the students from Bangkalan, Adinda, was happy that a mobile library came to her school. Moreover, there are some books that she really reads, but it is difficult to have access to them. For example, the Harry Potter books, which have a series. "Hopefully a reading car like this can come here again because if it is only one day, it feels short. Thank you, RBC UMM and PPI AMF, for visiting our school,” she concluded hopefully. (*/wil/put)
