Excellence Campus Award (AKU) was achieved for the twelfth times by the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). This award was achieved directly by UMM Rector, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. when attending the Leaders Work Meeting (Rakerpim) Higher Education Institution of Higher Education Services (LLDikti) VII East Java Region 2019 in Singhasari Resort Batu, Wednesday (30/10).
Fauzan expressed his gratitude for the achievement. “Thanks to every academics community for the hard work in preserving this award for the twelfth times,” he said. This White Campus achievement is because of the contributions of every sector in UMM. Sector I of academics, sector II of facilities and infrastructures, sector III of student affairs, and also every related party.
The UMM achievement as a superior campus in the university category from LLDikti VII Region was a form of recognition from the government as one of the stakeholders towards the UMM struggle in implementing Higher Education Tri Dharma.

This task was a challenging mission. First, because the regulation in the higher education field specifies the increasingly high standardization. For example in the accreditation field organized by BAN-PT, which is using 9 criteria.
For that reason, UMM keeps on making serious efforts in increasing the quality in every aspect related to an educational organization. Including the facilities and infrastructure availability and student activities. UMM keeps on strengthen the statute and quality assurance institution which ensures the certainty implementation of the quality assurance cycle which includes: Determination, Implementation, Evaluation, Control and Development (PPEPP).
UMM is also trusted as the executor of the Higher Education Asuh (PT-Asuh) program. This mandate is in accordance with the Decree of the Director-General of Learning and Student Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Research and Technology regarding the University of Quality Assurance Programs.
Other efforts, UMM continues to seek international recognition. In the meantime there are several study programs that have obtained such as AUN QA certification and several other international certifications. In essence, UMM continues to seek internationalization.
Second, the demands of the World of Business and Industry (DUDI) are increasing. Therefore, UMM continues to strengthen educational activities by providing additional competencies. For example, at UMM there is a Professional Certification Institute (LSP). From this institution, UMM students get competency certification on a certain scale. Certainly after going through the training process and competency test.
In the awarding ceremony, the Head of LLDikti Region VII East Java Prof. Dr. Suprapto, DEA. stated that the challenges of higher education in the future are increasingly severe. "Higher education is not only required to carry out the Tri Dharma particularly in quality learning but continuously make improvements," said Suprapto.
In line with what was delivered by Suprapto, UMM had developed a curriculum that was implemented that was relevant time by time. In addition, the learning mode has met the demands of the development of science and technology. The human resources produced by UMM are able to be responsive, adaptive, and ready to face the industrial revolution 4.0.
The research activities carried out by UMM were also considered sufficient to produce the expected publications and innovations. UMM also produced graduates and intellectual property products that had an impact on development. (joh)
