Presiden Barrack Obama |
Teheran - The Iranian government responded to the election helped the United States win back Barack Obama. For Iran, Obama wins re-election as U.S. president for the second term will not provide significant changes to Iran's relations with the United States.
The results obtained in the U.S. elections will not lead to the normalization of US-Iranian relations, despite expectations for an improvement of relations remain.
"Four years ago, Obama was elected with a platform for change and he said he would put out his hand for cooperation with Iran, but instead she acted opposite once elected even sanction that has never happened before," said Iran's judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani told Fars news agency News, as quoted by AFP on Thursday (11/08/2012).
According to him, Iran's relations with the United States is complex, not simple. Especially after all the pressure and the crimes committed by the U.S. against the Iranian people.
"Starting a new relationship again overnight, it is not possible. Americans should not think that they can get concessions from the Iranian people to come to the negotiating table," he said.
A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ramin Mehmanparast said Iran continues to respect the voice of the U.S. people. But he confirmed that the walls of mistrust Iran against the United States could be torn down if the U.S. is to respect the will and rights of the Iranian people as well as things change its policies in the past were wrong.
Obama won the U.S. presidential electoral gains ahead of a vote over its rival, Romney. Counting last show, Obama is far superior over Mitt Romney with 303 electoral vote against 206 electoral vote. It takes 270 electoral vote to win the U.S. presidential election.
To note, the U.S. cut ties with Iran after the Iranian Islamic students stormed the embassy in Tehran and held 52 U.S. diplomats in it. They detained the diplomats for more than a year. The incident occurred shortly after the outbreak of the Iran's Islamic revolution in 1979.
Since then, relations between Iran and the U.S. heats up. Washington and even Tehran dubbed as the 'Great Satan'.
