VIVAnews – Kesyahbandaran Office and the Port Authority of Pontianak, West Kalimantan, prohibit freighter and passenger ship to sail due to bad weather extremes Karimata Strait and the South China Sea.
Unmitigated, sailing ban was even released until the middle of this month, January 15, 2013. Since yesterday, the waters ravaged Kalimantan winds. Ocean waves even reached seven meters.
Sailing Safety Section Head Office and the Port Authority Kesyahbandaran Pontianak, Suhardi, said the ban is mainly devoted to sailing vessels machines under a thousand gross tons.
"While the ship over a thousand gross tons sailing will be allowed only if the condition is really possible," said Suhardi in Pontianak, Thursday, January 10, 2013.
Suhardi said it sailed the safety above all else. Therefore, the port authority will continue to coordinate with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency to monitor the development of strong winds and high waves.
