The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) is optimistic about winning a range of sports branches at the East Java Provincial Student Sports Week II held in Jember from July 15th until 22nd. Therefore the White Campus—UMM has delegated its best athletes: from physical sports to the e-one.
While delegating the athletes, the Vice Rector III of UMM, Dr. Nur Subeki, M.T., said that the representatives of the White Campus must do their best. Additionally, they must shape a winning mentality and feel the atmosphere of a higher level of match.
He thinks that sometimes educational institutions often forget that young people’s talents are not only in academic terms but also non-academic ones. Some young people do have potential in non-academic spheres. This idea becomes the particular concern of UMM to remain committed to facilitating young people with the best platform.
“This is their chance to show off their skills at the provincial level. Later, we must also try hard so that we can continue our work at the national and international levels. We always realize their talents must be honed and facilitated in a superb platform,” explained Vice Rector III of UMM.
He expects the athlete representatives of UMM to show their best performance. While performing maximally, achievements and championships will always accompany them. “Don’t be shy and hesitate to showcase your talent—especially since Pomprov (Trans.: Provincial Student Sports Week) is an interesting yet competitive event,” asserted Subeki.
The 70 athletes delegated by UMM are going to participate in futsal, karate, and e-sport. One of the departing athletes from the karate category, Jihan Prashanti, said that she had done rigorous preparation. She even had to increase her training every night for an entire week.

“I have prepared many things carefully. I am ready to compete and fight for the championship. I have prepared mentally, physically, and strategically in advance,” said Jihan.
She also advises other athletes of UMM to stay consistent in practice and always show maximum effort. “The process is not easy and must be consistent. To make achievements, there is definitely an effort. Hence, remain firm and bring pride to UMM at any level, in this case the 2023 East Java Provincial Student Sports Week,” concluded she.
