Ahmad Akmal, a recent graduate from the Biology Education Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) has a series of remarkable achievements in vocal and musical arts. From a young age, Akmal has shown a keen interest in music, especially in choral singing. His talent in singing became evident early on as he participated in numerous choir competitions at the school and provincial levels. His success in these competitions marked the beginning of his illustrious musical career.
Graduating on August 29, Akmal shared that despite pursuing a degree in Biology Education, he never abandoned his passion for music. This passion led him to join the Gita Surya Student Activity Unit (UKM), which focuses on choral singing. This moment was a turning point in Akmal's career, as he began participating in and winning various choral competitions, both nationally and internationally.

One of Akmal's significant achievements was when he and his team won the Grand Champion title at the Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod International Choir Festival 2023 in Kuala Lumpur. This prestigious event was an unforgettable experience for Akmal. "I am very grateful to have participated in the festival. Besides learning a lot about singing techniques, I had the opportunity to meet many new friends from different countries. This experience is extremely valuable to me," he said.
Akmal also won a gold medal at the national choir competition at Ciputra University, first place in the pop category at the POSSE National in Riau, and a silver medal in the Penabur Online-Mixed Youth Category at the Penabur International Choir Festival, among other achievements. He appreciates UMM for providing an excellent platform for him to excel and express his talents.
In addition to his musical achievements, Akmal has demonstrated dedication in his academic pursuits. He has been active as a laboratory assistant on campus and has participated in several faculty research projects. Despite his busy academic schedule, Akmal continued to hone his vocal skills. His involvement in various campus activities proves that he is a student capable of balancing academic and extracurricular excellence.
Akmal recognizes that although his degree is in education, his passion for music and choral singing remains strong. He dreams of establishing a choral community in his hometown, Hulu Sungai Utara, South Kalimantan. "I want to give children in my village the opportunity to experience the beauty of choral music. I hope they can achieve success, even on an international level,” he said.

As an outstanding graduate, Akmal is proud to have brought honor to UMM not only through his academic achievements but also through his contributions to the arts.
