UMM Islamic Family Law Alumnus, Now a Religious Court Judge

A judge's work has a great responsibility in establishing a country's judicial system. Therefore, it is not surprising that a judge is always required to be professional and fair in every trial. M. Khusnul Khuluq, an alumnus of the Islamic Family Law (IFL) Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Religion (FIR), University of Muhammadiyah Malang, is now a magistrate in Sungai Penuh City, Jambi. His presence is a real evidence that UMM graduates are able to contribute actively in upholding justice in Indonesia.

He has been in this profession since 2020, considering that the knowledge he has gained from his study program is in accordance with the religious court, he tried to apply for the national judge candidate formation as a CPNS judge candidate in 2017. According to him, being a judge is a spiritual call to give the best for the community and the country.

"Back then, the process to be a CPNS candidate took about 2 years, and finally I was able to be assigned as a judge of the Sungai Penuh Court as of now. Being a judge is also helpful for the community. Although the journey to become a judge is full of challenges," he said.

Khusnul, as he is familiarly called, also shared the great role of the White Campus in educating him during college. He revealed that the education and knowledge taught was in accordance with what he needed during his journey as a judge. Starting from the mechanism of giving theory in class to practicum. 

"In Islamic Family Law study program, the lessons are very special, holding various trainings in preparation for the registration of the National Judge Candidate Formation, which is a very useful provision for IFL students. Furthermore, there are also many practical lessons that are in alignment with the judges' profession," he said.

In addition, he also emphasized that education is not just about getting a degree, but also forming a character and life purpose. The classroom was a place to gain as much knowledge as possible and the actual life will be felt when graduating from college. The rapid dynamization of life is a real challenge that must be faced.

Finally, he advised all UMM alumni who are now working in government institutions, to be able to work with trust and wholeheartedly. High integrity and dedication are the keys to realizing the expectations of the community.

"There are many people out there who have high hopes for us to make this country fair and prosperous. That is a mandate for all of us, especially those who are state servants," he said. (Zaf/Faq/Put)
