Starting from a hobby of conducting various research and writing, an alumnus of Muhammadiyah Malang University has successfully founded a publishing company. Luthfi Jayadi Kurniawan is a UMM alumnus who is now the President Director and Commissioner of PT Citila Group. He is an alumnus of the 1989 Social Welfare study program of FISIP.

He has always had a passion for writing and reading, which led him to the desire to establish a company, particularly in the publishing field. Today, he owns several companies that have expanded into various sectors. These include printing, media, distribution and online shopping, tour and travel, and operating a network of bookstores across Indonesia. This also serves as a way to accommodate ideas from the public and young people, allowing them to be expressed in book form. To date, he has significantly contributed to creating new job opportunities for people in his community.

He mentioned that his success is closely tied to the facilities provided by UMM, such as its excellent library. The library offered students a platform to access knowledge easily and for free. Moreover, the campus environment played a significant role in shaping him into an active student.

Luthfi also emphasized the importance of the social environment at UMM in shaping student character. Through various student activities and organizations, UMM students are encouraged to develop their potential, enhance creativity, and build strong social connections. This aligns with UMM's vision of producing graduates who are not only intelligent but also resilient and ethical. This environment also gave him the courage to take risks and strive towards his dreams.

During his university years, he was actively involved in various intra- and extracurricular campus organizations. Within intra-campus organizations, he was active in the Social Welfare Student Association, served as the Chairman of the FISIP Student Senate, and led the FISIP student magazine “Muara.” After completing his studies, he became a social activist, gaining extensive experience through social advocacy and working with laborers, farmers, and impoverished communities.

In 2019, he was even nominated as one of the top ten candidates for the KPK leadership by the President of Indonesia. “During my time as a Social Welfare student, I greatly enjoyed the numerous experiences and knowledge I gained. Both academic and non-academic experiences greatly helped in shaping my character,” he said.

Lastly, he advised UMM students to develop strong personal character, excel in social and academic capacities, and become movers and guides in advancing societal development.  (Zaf/Wil/Fajr
