Reaching dozens of achievements during the lecture period, Ana Fauzia, a University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) student, was successfully confirmed as the best graduate. His active participation in various championships did not make him lose his focus to carry out his obligations to the college. She was also regarded as an outstanding student (Mawapres) at the White Campus. The 103rd UMM graduation ceremony took offline at the UMM Dome and online via live Youtube on Tuesday (28/3).

Ana, her nickname, told me that she has often participated in competitions since elementary school (SD). This habit he continued to do until he stepped on the lecture bench. Instead of getting used to being a New Student (Maba), Ana immediately took part in a national-level competition two months after being accepted as a White Campus student.

"Maybe because I'm used to various competitions, I immediately looked for what competitions I could participate in even though I was still a freshman. The first achievement that I got in college was the third-place winner in the national debate competition held by Hasanuddin University in 2018. Since winning the championship, I have continued to participate in other contexts, especially in writing and public speaking, "explained the second child of three siblings.

While participating in various competitions, Ana admitted that there was one competition that she thought was very difficult. Both from the aspect of preparation to the time the competition takes place. The competition is the National Selection of Outstanding Student (Pilmapres), organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud).

"The competitions I usually participate in are in the fields I love. So I don't feel heavy when I go through the lecture process and prepare for the competition. But for Pilmapres, the challenge is huge. Competing with outstanding students at private universities, I also had to compete with outstanding students at state universities. Thank God I was able to get 7th place in the competition," said the Law Faculty student.

One thing continues to spur Ana to win races and become champion. He said that some people often underestimate students from private universities. According to them, private students are no better off than students from state universities. "I'm trying my best to break that notion. Wherever a person comes from, he has the right to be successful and achieve achievements," said Ana.

Regarding balancing academic and non-academic sides, Ana said she was not too overwhelmed with managing time. The lecture process, which takes place online, makes it flexible in arranging competition preparation and assignments given by lecturers.

"The campus is also very supportive and appreciative of students who will compete. Some of the support provided by the campus include waiving college dispensations, providing transportation money when going to compete, and giving prizes if they win the competition. The appreciation made by the campus makes me more excited to compete," said Ana.

Although there were no problems in managing time, bad days also came to Ana during her studies. To overcome this, Ana always conducts a job evaluation. This evaluation is helpful so that Ana and the team do not experience the same problem in the future.

"There is one proverb that I like: the taller the tree, the stronger the wind will blow. It also means that the more trials she faces becomes a great person. So, I consider whatever obstacle is happening to me is the process of becoming a better person," he concluded. (cdr/syi/wil)
