Bringing up the issue of child education welfare, a student of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) won first place in the national-level essay competition, defeating other well-known campuses. She is Qurrota A'yun, a student of the sixth semester of the Faculty of Law who won first place in the national-level essay competition held by the Siliwangi University Library, Tasikmalaya, on April 23, 2024.
Nuya, her nickname, is a student who loves writing. She made an essay by raising the issue of Lembaga Pembinaan Khusus Anak (LPKA), which still does not have a library yet. “For me, the focus is on the Blitar area. Especially considering that education is absolutely important for all children, including those who are being raised in LPKA. Early childhood tends to have an unstable mentality, a lack of educational facilities such as libraries is a concern when they have left LPKA.
LPKA is a mentorship institution for children who are currently undergoing a criminal period. It is also regulated in Law Number 11 of 2021 concerning the Juvenile Justice System. In addition to being trained, the children who are undergoing a criminal period at LPKA are required to get a proper education like other children in general.
On the other hand, his writing skills have been practiced since she was a child. Since middle school, she has begun to actively write short stories and has participated in several writing competitions. In high school, she also actively participated in scientific writing and essay competitions. Although she has not won any competitions, her writing skills have not stopped. In fact, she has been working on a journal that she will be submitting soon. “My target is to graduate with a published journal and without a thesis. Therefore, since I started my third semester, I have started writing a collaborative journal with my lecturers,” she said.
One of the journals she wrote about community rights to political participation is currently still in the editing process. Another journal that raises the issue of blue economy implementation in marine regulations is also still under review. Aside from being active in the academic field, Nuya is also active in several organizations, such as the UMM Student Executive Board as the staff of the Ministry of Education and Culture and Athletics SME as the documentary staff.

Furthermore, she also wants to remain active by participating in competitions and writing journals. She aspires to become an environmental impact assessment research team and lecturer. “My advice to the youth is to be active in what you love. It could be that what you love will be the thing that leads you to success,” she said. (tri/wil/put)
