Not all drivers, including women, know how to take care of their vehicles. Especially at this time, many stereotypes still say that "women can only use vehicles but do not know how to maintain them." Responding to this, the Mechanical Engineering Lecturer at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), M. Irkham Mamungkas, ST., MT., said that an understanding of caring for motorized vehicles is essential.
"I often meet many drivers who are confused about maintaining the engine. Several times I met women who ran out of gas on the road, rode a motorcycle or car by stepping on the gas, then suddenly brake suddenly and others. These things are actually not good for engine performance," said the man who is familiarly called Irkham.
Although a person does not know much about the ins and outs of motorized vehicles, the essential things in maintenance should be owned by a driver—starting from how to use the engine to periodic maintenance for cars and motorcycles.
"Car and motorcycle maintenance are (completely) different but basically the same. For example, before use, the vehicle engine needs to be heated first. Don't just use it and start it. This is an easy thing to do but is often overlooked," he added.

In addition, Irkham also talked about the importance of regular oil changes and service. The same goes for checking tire pressure. If ignored, this can be fatal, even causing an accident.
"The front and rear tire pressure have different numbers. This is important to note. Apart from safety and performance reasons, this can maintain the quality of the wheels and can extend the life of the wheels," he explained.
Equally important in maintaining a motorized vehicle is not to let the vehicle run out of gas. Although it does not damage the entire vehicle engine directly, this negligence makes the performance of the car or motorcycle even less. In addition, if the vehicle sounds noisy, it should be serviced immediately because there is certainly damage to the machine.

"Usually, if this happens, it means there are parts that need to be replaced or cleaned. If you want your vehicle to last a long time, you must also be careful when using it, especially for female drivers who are often considered not to pay attention to their cars or motorcycles," the Lecturer concluded.
