As the host of this year's Group of Twenty (G20), Indonesia has an important role to play in the implementation of this international scale forum. Prior to the G20 forum, the Values 20 (V20) conference was held. Through an invitation from V20, Haziz Hidayat, a student of the Faculty of Islamic Religion (FAI) majoring in Islamic Economics, was successfully selected as one of the delegates from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) as a representative of Indonesia. The V20 conference which was attended by representatives from 20 countries was held at the end of last October in Ubud Bali.
V20 is a global community that supports the G20 in initiating, developing, and reinforcing individual, institutional, national and global values. Aziz, his nickname, admitted that he was very happy to be selected as a delegate at the V20 conference. The student, who is really interested in global issues, said that he and delegates from other countries discussed a lot about the goals and targets of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

According to him, the discussion of related issues is very interesting because of its wide scale. Even with the aspect of the study and its many goals. Starting from social, economic, environmental, legal, and others. They also help each other to provide solutions to current and future problems.
“I happened to get a project in the environmental field related to food waste management. I provide a solution, namely by using a pyrolysis system, which is a way that can have an impact on waste management. This system can even accommodate almost 18 tons of waste which is then processed into fuel, asphalt, and steel,” he explained.
The student who was born in 1999 said that he often participated in and contributed to many international conferences. Previously he also participated in the 2020 United Nations Conference in Jakarta. From the experience he got, Aziz and his friends on campus started to build the SDGs Center at UMM. Fortunately, all the potentials of students are fully supported by UMM White Campus. So that he and his friends have no difficulty in improving the quality of themselves.

He also emphasized that SDGs 2030 is not the responsibility of individuals, governments, or certain groups. But everyone has a responsibility to make it happen. So inter-line collaboration is very necessary.
“As a representative of UMM and Indonesia, there are many experiences and benefits that can be obtained through this V20. Hopefully the solutions we provide can be followed up and developed. At least later I will run it on campus. I also want to invite other students to be pro-active with existing global issues, so that UMM also has an important role. Not only at the Indonesian level but also at the world level," Aziz hoped to end. (cdr/zak/wil)
