In the Ramadan Ceria event, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a social service in Medalem Village, Modo, Lamongan, on April 3rd. In addition to distributing basic necessities, the UMM team also provides free medical examinations and treatment, as well as health counseling. It also invited dozens of children to play and learn with the Mobil Kamis Membaca (KaCa) and provided various prizes.
The lead organizer of the social service, Muhammad Luthfi M.H., explained that the White Campus always held similar activities every Ramadan. The event is not only held in Malang but also in various regions such as Lamongan, Lumajang, Batu, and so on. His team intentionally provides free health counseling and medication to help the villagers so that they don't have to see a doctor, especially for minor ailments.
The UMM team was also assisted by doctors and nurses from the UMM Hospital's medical team. Dozens of villagers came and checked their condition to be advised and examined later.
The Secretary of Muhammadiyah Lamongan Regional Leadership, Dr. Piet Hizbullah Khaidir, MA, was also present. On behalf of the PDM and local Muhammadiyah residents, he appreciated the social service activities organized by UMM. According to him, a collaboration like this is important and useful. The work of educational institutions is conducted together with Muhammadiyah residents in the regions.
"Helping and giving kindness to our own fellow Muslims is also a suggestion stated in the teachings of Islam. Moreover, this activity was carried out with the exact target," he added.
The social service began with counseling on how to maintain health, especially when experiencing pain in several locations, such as the waist, back, and others. The villagers were taught how to have good posture to avoid pain later on. They also received free medication and health checks.
Meanwhile, the children were invited to play various exciting games. Starting from moving ropes, trees, and wolves, guessing words, to green and red lights. Moreover, each child also received a gift that had been prepared by the UMM team. The children also had the opportunity to read hundreds of storybooks in the Mobil KaCa while waiting for the Maghrib call to prayer. (*/put)
