The good news came from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Library. One of the librarians, Dian Puspitasari, was awarded the favorite winner at the national competition for the best librarian. The event organized by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia was held on June 24th-27th. Dian, as she is called, presented interesting works and ideas, which is digital branding for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Her innovation is written in an essay entitled 'Digital Branding of UMM Library in Supporting MSME Product Marketing'. She wants to help MSMEs and students in target market mapping, brand identity, and social media analysis. She expected that these things could support the MSMEs' business.

The Secretary of the UMM library explained that the innovation she presented was one of the follow-up programs that already existed in the UMM Library. However, she developed it through collaboration with formonix.creative, which was worked on with UMM Communication Science Study Program students. "This collaboration is conducted to assist UMM libraries in managing creative content on social media. It has been proven that currently the followers on social media have increased to reach 8,363 in just a few months," she said.

Furthermore, currently, there are 23 MSMEs participating in her program and 18 of them have successfully implemented the concept launched by Dian. Through the training she provided for three months, it was seen that the social media of the fostered MSMEs had a significant increase in branding.

Out of hundreds of participants, there were only 15 participants who qualified for the final round. However, there were only three participants representing East Java, one of whom was Dian. The process began with submitting portfolios and essays in May. Then the final participants were announced.

"I presented this work in front of the chief librarian of Indonesia for 20 minutes. Alhamdulillah, I felt proud because I received praise from him regarding the innovation that I brought. After that I also went through an interview session to strengthen my understanding of the innovation offered," she explained.

According to her, the innovations she brings can benefit MSMEs. However, it can also improve the understanding and skills of other communities, especially regarding social media management, editing, copywriting, and public speaking. Therefore, she and the formonix.creative team, as the facilitator, will continue to maintain and develop the program according to the needs of the community, especially the youth who want to be entrepreneurs.
