This Department (Prodi) Arabic Language Education (PBA) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) should be proud because they achieve B accreditation recently from National University Accreditation Agency (BAN-PT). This decision was based on the accreditation certificate No. 1379/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/V/2019.

The first visitation of Prodi PBA UMM was held on Mei 2nd becomes the best achievement for PBA. It is because PBA was freshly established on March 14th, 2014. Four years later they achieve “B” as a good accreditation. In the next August, they can graduate their students.

Ahmad Fatoni, Lc., M.Ag., as the Head ofPBADepartment, He explains that his Department doesn’t need a long time for the visitation process. “Only 45 minutes,” said Fatoni. This short process of visitation was for a reason. The structured form by Prodi PBA was rated very good by the BAN-PT assessor.

One of the considerations of the assessor in giving the B as accreditation is from the students’ achievement. “Yesterday, we invited 22 of our best students to attend the visitation activities,” said Fatoni. Many achievements that achieved by the PBA students become the additional points in maximizing the score.

PBA Department also applied a learning system through maximizing learning technology mechanism. It is because they want to answer the challenge of Industry Revolution 4.0 by employing digital based courses such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

One of them is Mohammad Romli that acieve the 3rd Champion of Arabic Language National Level Debate in University of Ahmad Dahlan. Moreover, Romli was also won the Best Speaker Arabic Language National Level Debate in the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta last December 2018.

That accreditation achievement doesn’t make PBA Department satisfied. The next challenge will be the enhancement of Human Resource (SDM) to be better. The integrity of every element of the academic community in PBA Department is needed whether the students, lecturer, and employee in order to enhance the SDM. (joh)
