The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) provides available and interesting scholarships. One of them is superior talent, which enables new students to get the discount of the Contribution Fund of Education Development (Translated: Sumbangan Pembinaan Pendidikan) until they graduate in the eighth semester. Additionally, this scheme can give awardees the opportunity to participate in various leadership and skill improvement programs while studying at UMM.
Nurudin, the Head of the Student Admission Office of UMM, says that all prospective new students have equal opportunity to obtain the superior talent scholarship. Meanwhile, for medical students, they have their own terms and conditions to get this scholarship, which have been prepared.
These scholarship recipients later will get the discount of the Contribution Fund of Education Development from the beginning of lecture until the eighth semester. The fund discount will vary. It can be 25% to 75% for each semester. Despite it, the recipients must have a stable achievement index over 3,80 per semester, so the scholarship awardees are responsible and endeavor to maintain their grade performance.
Additionally, they will not be charged in the Center of Excellence (CoE) program, which generates human resources, who are ready to work. The same thing also applies to a leadership program and a language course in which they can participate freely.
“This scholarship consists of two schemes: academic and non-academic. For the academic scheme, prospective students register using their average report grade, minimum 80. Meanwhile for the non-academic one, registrants can attach a certificate or another proof that shows their active participation in sports, organizations, leadership and social activities, etc like the certificate of champion of memorizing 10 chapters of Qur’an or the certificate of champion of the martial arts competition,” said Nurudin.
Uniquely, content creators can also try to register through the non-academic scheme. At least, YouTubers must have approximately 5000 subscribers. Meanwhile, Instagrammers have a minimum of 10000 followers. Nurudin says that this idea can be the effort of UMM to recognize those who have works.

“(This scheme is) especially for those who are active in creating creative, educative, and positive content. This achievement path registration will be open until June 8, 2023. There is always an announcement for who passed this scheme every month. Last year, there were 3709 registrants, which consisted of 3273 academic and 432 non-academic schemes,” Nurudin added.
Besides the superior talent scholarship, UMM also provides the Smart Indonesian Card Scholarship, Orphan Scholarship, and even a fee discount for alumni of Muhammadiyah schools and universities. On the other hand, Tarjih Ulama Education Program (Translated: Program Pendidikan Ulama Tarjih) for Islamic scholars, Sibling Scholarship, etc. are also available in the University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
