After successfully launching an anthology of short stories entitled Titik Nadir Penantian in January last year, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) and inmates at the Class IIA Women's Correctional Institution (Lapas) Malang re-launched the second edition with a revised version. The short anthology book, the work of 32 women inmates in Malang prison, was printed with a more attractive cover display with neater and easier-to-read content.
Regarding the book, the Cultural Institute (LK) of UMM collaborated with the UMM New Book Store and MNC Publishing to hold a Book Review event on Monday (03/10). In his speech, the Head of UMM LK, Dr. Daroe Iswatiningsih, M.Si, said that the birth of the Titik Nadir Penantian book was a form of devotion to accommodate stories and the outpouring of hearts and feelings from prison residents in written form. Then embodied in a slick work.
These efforts are made so that society's stigma against prison residents when they leave is no longer underestimated, especially with the ability to write and literacy that already qualifies. "Substantially, the first and second prints are not much different. Perhaps the most obvious aspect of the cover presentation is more brilliant. Then the font size is enlarged to make it easier for readers," he explained.

The agenda also presented the Young Planner of the Financial Economy Sub-Coordinator, R. Agung Harjaya Buana as a book reviewer. In his presentation, Agung appreciated the books written by prison inmates. According to him, the book is an extraordinary intellectual work because it was born by prison inmates who go beyond what people think of them.
“An anthology of life stories from prison residents written in a book is great to work. If this continues, it will become an extraordinary economic activity because royalties will later become a new income for the prison. Imagine writing is an eternity; when we are gone, writing will always be there. Moreover, writing based on experience will certainly be more appreciated,” said Agung.

On the other hand, the Head of Class IIA Malang Women's Prison, Tri Anna Aryati, S.H., M.Si., thanked the UMM academic community by reprinting the book. "I hope this book can be useful for those who read it. By reading this book of experiences from the inmates, I hope we can be more careful in living our lives. Hopefully, this book can be a lesson for all of us," hopes Anna. (cdr/zak/wil)
