With the Octop Communication Science team, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) successfully inaugurated the " Kampung Inklusi" (trans: inclusive village). Located in Bambang Hamlet, Kesamben District, Blitar Regency, the village was inaugurated on August 3. Interestingly, the Octop Team has collaborated with the Bhakti Kinasih Mandiri Foundation or Rumah Kinasih to emphasize important milestones in the inclusive movement in entrepreneurship.

During the process, Rumah Kinasih became an inclusive entrepreneurial program that collaborates with Orang Dengan Gangguan Jiwa (ODGJ) (trans: people with disabilities and people with mental disorders). They create unique products from Batik Ciprat, such as sling bags, wallets, and key chains. This inspired the Octop Team to inaugurate the 'Inclusion Village.' The Octop Team is a group of three practicum students from the Communication Science department specializing in Public Relations at UMM.

Related to the inauguration, the Head of the East Java Provincial Social Service Disaster Management Division, Sukardi, appreciated the implemented program. According to him, the village can provide knowledge and protection for individuals who are vulnerable and people with disabilities.

"Skill development is also an important point of this kampung inklusif. Hopefully it can continue to run and be developed more widely," he said.

Meanwhile, Nafisa Aura, Chief Executive, highlighted the important role of 'Kampung Inklusi' in changing the stigma of the neighborhood to be more competitive and better. She hopes that the village created by her team can inspire many people. It could even become a new and unique tourist destination.

The existence of a 'Kampung Inklusi' indicates an equal step, overcoming lingering exclusivity. Limited access for people with disabilities to public transportation, roads, and office facilities is a significant concern. With this inclusion, all people have equal opportunities and get fair services.

An ambiance of intimacy and cheerfulness also enlivened the inauguration ceremony. The melodious music and Gandrung Dance presented by the students of SMAN 1 Kesamben provided a unique environment of interaction. A sign language interpreter was even provided so all participants could feel the joy.

"This Kampung Inklusi is expected to have a positive impact and strengthen cross-sectoral cooperation in overcoming the problem of social vulnerability," said Edy Cahyono, the Founder of Kampung Inklusi Rumah Kinasih.

The progressive actions taken by Team Octop and Rumah Kinasih are a real example of passion and creativity in creating an inspiring world. 'Kampung Inklusi' not only creates magic but also opens up opportunities for a brighter and more inclusive future for all individuals. (Put/Wil)
