The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continues to strive in producing outstanding and professional human resources, both domestically and internationally. Most recently, the White Campus has explored cooperation with Eurojob Germany concerning human resources prepared to work in Germany. The meeting took place on July 8, 2024.
CEO of Eurojob Germany, Mr. Marco Kunert, explained that one of the biggest challenges Indonesian human resources face in working in Germany is the language barrier. Language proficiency requirements are crucial for acceptance in various sectors. For example, prospective workers must have at least an A2 level to work in fields such as culinary arts, hospitality, and others.
"Germany is very open to job opportunities for human resources from other countries. Many fields still require skilled employees such as nurses, chefs, electricians, mechanics in large factories like BMW, physiotherapists, and so forth," he explained.

To work in Germany, individuals must have a language certificate and proof of work experience or training in a specific field for at least two years. Therefore, cooperation with Indonesian higher education institutions will certainly facilitate a smoother and easier process, especially in preparing human resources who are truly competent and ready to work in Germany without major obstacles.
On the other hand, UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Nazaruddin Malik, M.Si., explained that language indeed poses a barrier. UMM already has a language center that teaches foreign languages such as English, Dutch, German, Arabic, and French. This will facilitate any future collaborations related to language preparation for human resources who will work abroad, including in Germany.
"We can collaborate with UMM's Vocational Faculty and develop programs, such as conducting supporting workshops and training. For example, in the fields of mechanics, operators, and others. So, there are short-term programs that can be immediately executed," he said.

Furthermore, various job opportunities in Germany can also be filled by graduates of UMM. Especially with the breadth of disciplines and various innovations that the White Campus possesses. For example, in the field of physiotherapy. UMM has a department and professional education in physiotherapy, ensuring both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Additionally, they can be equipped with the German language to facilitate communication processes there. (wil/fajr)
