Muhammad Fauzan Algifari, a graduate of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Physiotherapist Professional Education at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), pursued a career as a professional physiotherapist. Since he was a student, he has been active as a laboratory assistant (Aslab) and has now carved out a successful career as a professional physiotherapist with the national volleyball team.

"About two months after completing my professional education, I received a golden opportunity to join the national volleyball team as a physiotherapist. This experience has been invaluable, allowing me to meet national and international athletes," he said.

As a physiotherapist, Algi carries significant responsibilities. His main duties encompass four aspects: promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative care. He is also authorized to provide medication to athletes, in coordination with doctors. "In carrying out our duties, we are also required to take a special approach to players who are injured, ensuring their psychological state remains stable," he explained.

Algi places special emphasis on educating players about maintaining their physical condition. He stresses the importance of adequate rest, the use of protective gear like taping, and ensuring athletes perform cooling down exercises after training. He believes that the knowledge he gained during his studies at UMM is highly relevant to the current needs of sports physiotherapy. However, the greatest challenge he faces is the pressure to quickly rehabilitate injured players.

According to Algi, opportunities in volleyball physiotherapy are still very much open. He hopes that in the future, more UMM graduates will pursue careers in this field. "Never be afraid to try new things, as sports physiotherapy is promising and can expand your network," he advises his fellow physiotherapy graduates.
