Dela, an Indonesian Language Education student at UMM, becomes the Literacy Ambassador of East Java.

Students of Muhammadiyah Malang University (UMM) continue to achieve remarkable accomplishments. One such achievement comes from L. Dela Fimeta, a student of the Indonesian Language Education program in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), who earned the title of East Java Literacy Ambassador 2024 in the prestigious 'East Java Reading Ambassador Selection 2024.' She successfully brought pride to the university during the event, which was held at the end of December.

Dela, as she is affectionately called, explained that the event aims to promote reading interest and foster a culture of literacy in Indonesia, particularly in East Java Province. Dozens of participants competed for the prestigious title.

"I, along with the other participants, competed in literacy skills, public speaking, and innovative literacy programs for the community," she emphasized.

Dela managed to impress the judges with her critical ideas on strategies to enhance reading interest in the digital era, as well as her exceptional ability to deliver inspiring messages. She participated in this event to hone her public speaking skills, broaden her literacy knowledge through various reading sources, and inspire the broader community to embrace a passion for reading.

"Reading is the window to the world. I want to inspire more people to make reading a daily habit, especially among the younger generation," Dela said enthusiastically.

As the winner, Dela will take on an important role as the East Java Literacy Ambassador 2024. Her primary responsibility is to promote a culture of literacy across East Java through various educational programs, including literacy workshops, reading campaigns, and other social activities. With her background as a student of the Indonesian Language Education program at FKIP UMM, Dela is optimistic about applying the knowledge she has gained in college to advance literacy within the community.
