The atmosphere at the 111th Graduation Ceremony of Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM) on December 26, 2023, was filled with excitement among the graduates and their families. Among the attendees was Ir. Agung Jaka Raharja, ST., MW., CIPM, IPM, Asean. Eng., the Head of Corporate Project Development at Sebuku Group (Salim Group), who is also an alumnus of UMM's Civil Engineering department.

"I remember graduating from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang back in 2001. It was indeed an emotional and proud moment upon completing my undergraduate studies. I'm certain that the same feelings are experienced by the graduates and their families gathered here in the Dome," he shared with thousands of graduates.

Commonly called Agung, he provided several tips for UMM graduates to excel in the workforce, emphasizing the significance of adaptability. He stressed that adaptability is crucial, especially when entering the workforce and engaging in society.

"My younger siblings, never be naive in life, especially in your approach to adaptation. Idealism isn't merely what resides in our personal thoughts; it's about interpreting all differences. Particularly, we must be capable of adapting to our surroundings," he explained.

He also highlighted that UMM graduates must strive to be individuals different from others. This differentiation involves generating brilliant ideas, innovations, and cosmopolitan thoughts.

He briefly addressed emerging challenges, ranging from geopolitics to digitization. Why are these considered threats? It's because many young individuals are getting lost in digital advancements and merely becoming consumers. This inadvertently leads to unproductive life patterns. He emphasized that today's youth must dare to make decisions and play a role in Indonesia's vision for 2045, the Golden Indonesia.

Finally, he expressed that UMM graduates are fortunate to have chosen UMM as their educational institution. UMM offers its students extensive networks and a prestigious reputation not commonly found on other campuses. Additionally, UMM provides various developmental programs for its students, such as the Center of Excellence (CoE).

"UMM is remarkable, holding a prestigious reputation recognized by many entrepreneurs. I refer to it as 'insurance' that can be utilized by its alumni upon graduation. Moreover, there's the CoE projected for Industrial Work Practices (DUDI). To be honest, our company usually takes 6–8 months in the recruitment process to prepare human resources. Now, UMM has provided an answer and can prepare its graduates to work directly in DUDI," he concluded. (*faq/wil/fajr)
