Appreciated! FKIP UMM Extended Collaboration with Schools in Malang

After five years of implementing cooperation agreements in the implementation of quality education with a number of schools in Malang, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) through the Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) renewed the agreement to be implemented in the next five years.

Witnessed by UMM Rector, Head of Malang City Service, Malang Regency, Batu City and Malang Ministry of Religion, the memorandum of understanding was signed by the elementary school to high school principals on Friday (8/3) at UMM Campus III Gedung Kuliah Bersama (GKB) I.

The Head of Malang City Education Service, Dra. Zubaidah, MM. welcomed the efforts of UMM to continue to develop education in Malang. "So far, UMM has always given a very helpful service to schools in Malang," Zubaidah said when invited to give a speech.

Some programs, she continued, such as lesson study or a model of educator professional development through the study of learning collaboratively and sustainably for teachers in schools was something that must be continued. Regarding this, UMM itself had collaborated with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Previously, 14 partner schools participated in the School Lecturer Assignment (PDS) program. The main objective of this PDS program was to build a partnership between FKIP as an Educational Education Institution (LPTK) with partner schools. Lecturers became instructors for students at school.

Through this program, many good practices were formed. Such as cladogram learning by utilizing plants available in the school environment, utilizing honey cages for learning plant and animal anatomy, fun learning, meaningful learning, and others.

Zubaidah was also impressed with UMM students who during the field practice gave a good impression to the educational environment in Malang. "A teacher certainly has weaknesses. So if it's wrong, you need to confess. The teacher is not an angel. That's how UMM students that we met on the field, "he said.

UMM Rector, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd, also said that the era of bonus demography will arrive soon. Then it needed massive HR preparation through education. "Disasters will occur if HR is not well prepared," she explained. One of UMM's preparations to face this was to establish vocational education.

While delivered by Dr. Poncojari Wahyono, M.Pd, dean of the UMM FKIP, the collaboration carried out by UMM with schools in Malang had been very effective. “Lesson study and lecturers teach, perhaps that is some cooperation between UMM and good schools to continue, "He explained. (Win)
