He will serve as the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, alongside 48 ministers and 46 deputy ministers in the "Merah Putih" cabinet.

The native of Kediri explained that his selection was the result of a thorough evaluation by President Prabowo and his team. This honor fills him with pride, as it reflects UMM's ability to produce individuals who possess not only academic competence but also strong leadership skills.
Regarding his new role, the former two-term UMM rector could not yet provide specific details. Since the position is newly created and had not existed in the previous cabinet, he explained that it would focus on higher education, science, and technology.
"I cannot elaborate further at this time, especially since I am the deputy minister. I will first coordinate with the minister of higher education, science, and technology," he said.
Fauzan also believes that the creation of two ministries focused on education results from careful deliberation by President Prabowo and his team. One of their goals is to enable a more focused and swift response to emerging educational challenges, ensuring more precise solutions for issues in the education sector.
Before his appointment, Fauzan had always held strategic positions, both at UMM and in various Muhammadiyah organizations. He served as Dean of UMM's Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) for two terms from 2005 to 2012. He was also UMM's Vice Rector II before becoming its rector from 2016 to 2024.

"Additionally, the Profesor Penggerak Pembangunan Masyarakat (Professor Mobilizing Community Development) program encourages experts and professors to engage directly with communities, assist them, and optimize the potential of each region," said Krisna, UMM's Head of Public Relations. (wil/fajr)
