Good news comes again from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). This time, a UMM lecturer has made it into the top 2% of researchers worldwide, according to a list published by Elsevier and Stanford University. Dana Marsetiya Utama, an Industrial Engineering lecturer at UMM, has been involved in international research since 2019. The certification included approximately 150,000 researchers worldwide, with 150 researchers from Indonesia making it into the top 2%..

Dana is listed in the category of nuclear and particle physics, thanks to his research related to energy. Some notable studies focus on more efficient energy management, which could lead to energy savings. As a result, many of his works have been cited by other researchers due to their importance and potential influence on further research. In the top 2% researcher evaluation, the number of publications, citations, and overall impact were key considerations.

Dana, as he is commonly known, shared his passion for research, driven by his dream of becoming a lecturer. He believes that a lecturer must be able to carry out the tri dharma (three dharmas) of higher education, making research a foundation for teaching and community service. “Teaching can be enriched through our research findings, offering students new perspectives and understanding,” he said.

He also expressed his deep gratitude and pride for his achievement. According to him, only a handful of researchers make it into this prestigious list, and not all universities in Malang are represented in the top researchers' list. This recognition is an honor not only for him but also for the university. Dana has proven that UMM possesses excellent human resources capable of competing on a global scale.

I also hope that other UMM lecturers will make it into this list in the future,” he concluded. (zaf/wil/fajr)
