Komfilasi is a film competition featuring 89 works by filmmakers from East Java. The films underwent rigorous selection by a panel of curators comprising academics, media professionals, filmmakers, cultural experts, and government representatives. Final evaluations were conducted by a jury led by actresses Marcella Zalianty and Prisia Nasution, along with honorary judge Arumi Bachsin.
The first-prize-winning film, "Kepaten Obor," tells the story of a young girl named Betari searching for her mother, Lastri, a native Tengger woman. The film offers an emotional narrative of the mother-daughter relationship, set against the stunning backdrop of Mount Bromo. “This film not only highlights natural beauty but also cultural values and touching emotions. There are many appealing aspects,” explained Novin.
The film was produced by Raya Media Creative, with Novin as the producer, Lukman Hakim as the director, and Arai Amelya as the screenwriter. Its production, which took three months, involved 45 crew members and three main actors. Previously, the film's concept had won the “Layar Perempuan” pitch deck competition organized by Indonesiana TV, besting hundreds of participants from across Indonesia.
In addition to his success at Komfilasi, Novin’s other work, "Majestic Rhythm," is currently competing in the Japan World’s Tourism Film Festival in Okayama, Japan. The film, part of the Wonderful Indonesia program by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, showcases the beauty of Labuan Bajo, Manggarai Barat, East Nusa Tenggara. “This is our step towards bringing local Indonesian stories to the global stage,” Novin stated.
