Two Students Physiotherapy of UMM Get an Awards at The PIMAF

The series of student achievements of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) keep continuing in the academic field. This time, Syi'ar Aprillia Tanazza and Lina Mitsalina Erawati, two UMM Physiotherapy students won Best Speaker in the Physiotherapy Student Scientific Week (PIMAF) event. The event was organized by the Indonesian Physiotherapy Student Association (IMFI), last Wednesday (20/4).

Syi'ar Aprillia as the team representative said that the research paper that was included in this competition was entitled "Analysis of Physiotherapy Interventions in Parkinson's Disease Using Vosviewer". The paper explains Parkinson's disease and how to prevent and cure it. Parkinson's disease is a disease that attacks the nervous system. Interfere with the body's ability to control and control movement.

"In addition, this Parkinson's has the effect of muscle pain and tremors in the body. Usually Parkinson's attacks and affects those aged 50 years and over," he explained.

There are three therapies for Parkinson's, either to prevent or cure. The first is conventional interventions that maximize the ability of physiotherapists and strengthening exercises. Furthermore, modern interventions put forward technology that can restore nerves, one of which is infrared. The last one is music and dance intervention which is an innovation for Parkinson's treatment in Indonesia. The patients are invited to dance to the rhythm of the music which has a relaxing effect on the nerves.

"This music and dance intervention can be applied here using local Indonesian dances, considering that this intervention has only been carried out in Argentina with the Tango dance," he said.

This Sumbawa native student shared that during the presentation, he and his team did not experience nervousness and had prepared well. Starting from the deepening of the material, mastery of the stage, and most importantly the effort to provide understanding for the audience. This preparation was not in vain and even resulted in the title of the best speaker at this PIMAF event. However, that does not mean that success is without obstacles. One of the findings is the lack of recent research that examines related materials.

At the end of the interview, he hopes that this music and dance intervention can be developed and applied in Indonesia. Especially considering that Indonesia has a variety of dance cultures. So that it can improve the healing of Parkinson's patients. He also hopes that the spirit of research and learning will continue to burn in all students.

“Never be afraid to compete because with this event we can measure our own abilities and know the breadth of the world. Then we can improve and improve ourselves so that we can achieve," he said. (haq/wil)
