370 students from the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP) at Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM) completed their National Defense training on January 21. They successfully overcame various physical challenges and absorbed knowledge from experts. The series of prepared agendas succeeded in shaping their personalities into resilient and determined youths. Various speakers attended, including teams from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Batu City, the Batu City Police, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNBP) of Batu City, and the Fire Department. In addition, several Majors, Lieutenant Colonels, Lieutenants, and Sergeants from the TNI Pusdikarhanud delivered material to strengthen the mentality of the students.

In the closing ceremony of the 2024 National Defense program, UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Si. congratulated the students who had struggled through the entire process. According to him, young people must possess a strong sense of nationalism, especially in an era of globalization.
"As the nation's future generation, you must strive to cultivate a love for the homeland. In doing so, you can lead the nation towards a better future. I hope you can respond to technological advancements for the nation's civilization and continue to make Indonesia proud with the achievements you will attain," emphasized Syamsul.

He also urged students to avoid drugs and free associations to ensure a bright future. They were also motivated to become sensitive and responsive individuals when solving problems.
Interestingly, during the closing ceremony, students also showcased their marching skills. It was one of the outcomes and evidence of the discipline they had built. The hope is that students can maintain this discipline in the learning environment and knowledge acquisition at UMM's White Campus.
Similar sentiments were shared by the Dean of FPP UMM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Aris Winaya, M.M., M.Si. IPU. ASEAN Eng. He said the National Defense program involved national content and physical training to build strong personal mentalities. It also represents UMM's strong commitment to supporting national development and upholding national values.
"This is not only a tangible contribution to shaping resilient future generations but also strengthens unity and togetherness among students, making them role models in the spirit of patriotism within the campus environment," he concluded. (*/wil/fajr)
