Nowadays, the mental health of teenagers is taking a prominent place in the limelight. Moreover, many teens decide to end their lives and harm themselves when they cannot find solutions to their problems. It became a concern for Ridho Ade Nugroho, a medical student at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), who will compete in the final of the 2024 East Java Putra Putri Kampus Ambassador.
Ridho focuses on mental health advocacy. He feels that he has a responsibility as a medical student who understands mental health to provide innovations and solutions for teenagers in Indonesia.

He also set up a program for students to share their problems, Empathy Circle. The program provides a space for the youth to tell their stories directly and be handled directly by a professional.
"In this program, I have collaborated with lecturers and students from the Pharmacy and Psychology study programs. Thus, the youths who feel stressed and confused can be treated by the appropriate person," he said.
Ridho, his nickname, said that the Putra Putri Campus Ambassador of East Java had two phases of selection, which were conducted directly in Malang and Surabaya. Ridho became a finalist representing Malang City. "There are several stages to get into the final stage, starting from grooming assessment, followed by personality assessment, and finally advocacy," he said.
He will participate in the next stage, which is the selection of the East Java Campus Putra Putri Ambassador on February 11th, 2024, in Surabaya to determine the champion. He has already planned a solution program which aims to deal with HIV and AIDS among teenagers.

It is not the first time for Ridho to compete as an ambassador. He had been selected as the Balikpapan City Sports Ambassador in 2022/2023. With his experience, he wants to be a productive youth and become one of the activists in realizing Indonesia 2045. "By becoming an ambassador, I can contribute and be useful to the public through the programs. Therefore, the demographic bonus can be utilized as well as possible," he said.
Ridho is also very grateful that the Faculty of Medicine UMM supports him to become the 2024 East Java Putra Putri Ambassador, for example, by helping to prepare materials and providing support through the online media program. "Hopefully, my efforts in the 2024 East Java Campus Putra Putri Ambassador selection event can make other youths realize that they can always be helpful for the community around them." (ri/wil/put)
