To enhance its students' quality, the Physiotherapy Department of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang delegated its students to jointly intern and participate in a student exchange program in Malaysia. The major collaborates with the MARA Technological University in Malaysia regarding the program collaboration. The students will follow the agenda for one month, from March to April 2023.

In the program, a few students have successfully departed to Malaysia, including Gendhis Endtrinasari Almira Dewanty. She explains her activities in following the program while in Malaysia, such as joining clinic classes, doing observations, and directly going to the hospital to pay attention to physiotherapy management.

"We receive much interesting information, which can be used later when establishing a clinic or becoming a physiotherapist. We can also understand the practitioners' explanation, which facilitates us a lot, especially their spoken language is similar to Indonesian," explains the student.

Given the intern and student exchange programs are held during Ramadan, Gendhis also shares her unique experience while fasting there, notably in Bandar Puncak Alam, Selangor. For example, she can find a Ramadan bazaar there where the vendors not only come from Malay ethnicities but also are uniquely diverse, like Palestine, India, Thailand, etc. It makes the provided food there vary.

"I do many activities while waiting for the break the fasting time. Coincidentally, the class here ends at 4:00 pm, while the time of break the fasting is at 7:30 pm. So, we usually stroll around while looking for snacks," says Gendhis.

Then, seeking halal foods for her is easy because Malaysia has a wider Muslim community, and its people dominantly embrace Islam. Additionally, she can efficiently perform the Taraweeh prayer and hear athan even from her dormitory.

Lastly, Gendhis hopes her departure to Malaysia to intern and join a student exchange program can inspire other young people and arouse their spirit to study abroad, like in Europe, America, Southeast Asia, Africa, Asia, and other countries.

"Young people must have dreams. The higher the dreams, the more effort must be made. Let's realize our dreams together while we're still young," ends Gendhis. (imh/faq/wil)
