Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) consistently develops international cooperation. This time, the Faculty of Education (FKIP) UMM held a collaboration with Yala Rajabaht University (YRU), Thailand, on April 19th. A delegation from YRU consisting of the rector, vice-rector, deans, and other team members attended. Both parties agreed to collaborate, formalized through the signing of MoU and MoA agreements.
Previously, various international universities from Thailand have collaborated with FKIP UMM. Among them are Rajamangala University in Bangkok, Pathumtani University in Bangkok, Thaksin University in Songklha, Fatoni University in Pattani, Ram Kam Heng University in Bangkok, and Rajabahti University in Yala. Collaborations have included student mobility, guest lectures, joint publications, and international seminars.

Regarding this cooperation, UMM's Vice Rector IV for Cooperation supports the efforts made by faculties in international cooperation. He emphasized that the MoU is the beginning and should be followed up with various tangible programs, such as student exchanges, joint publications, guest lectures, and more. Salis also stated that this collaboration could expand to other faculties because YRU involves faculties of economics, engineering, and social and political sciences in their visit to UMM.
"These activities are important in order to enhance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), both KPI 2 related to students engaging in activities off-campus and KPI 3 regarding lecturers engaging in activities off-campus," he said.
Upon hearing this welcoming speech, Prof. Dr. Sirichai, the Rector of YRU, agreed and welcomed the idea, urging the relevant deans from YRU to follow up on it. Enthusiasm also came from Prof. Dr. Muhammadtolan, the Dean of FKIP YRU. According to him, this collaboration is also an important part of Islamic proselytizing through universities.

"We express our gratitude to both parties for their willingness to establish cooperation. Hopefully, this can be a good start to bring forth interesting and beneficial programs in the future," he said.
Representing the FKIP Dean's Office, Dr. Sugiarti, M.Si., joyfully welcomed the visit of the YRU rector and deans. According to her, this is part of the effort to expand and strengthen the international atmosphere that has long been initiated by FKIP UMM. She also mentioned several potential programs that could be developed by both parties in teaching, research, community service, and Al-Islam.
"The modality of study programs in FKIP UMM, all of which already have reputable journals, can be the spearhead in this collaboration," she said.
Another interesting aspect of this collaboration is the short time in the negotiation process. In the future, there needs to be an orientation that benefits both parties so that the international mobility of lecturers and students becomes even more vibrant. Sustainable international-level mobility of lecturers and students is expected to enhance the achievement of KPI 2 and KPI 3 and have an impact on the reputation, achievements, and promotion of each study program.
