Cheers filled the closing ceremony of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Rector Cup on Wednesday (03/08) night. After an entire month of competing in art, sports, and reasoning, the students were very enthusiastic in welcoming the awarding night, which took place at the UMM Dome. At the event, the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP) won the first overall trophy, which nine other faculties contested.
In addition to presenting band, dance, and choir performances, the Closing of the Rector Cup invited Ratna Antika as a guest star. In his speech, the Rector of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd, said that this annual agenda was proper to encourage students to be active in developing soft leadership skills. In his journey, Rector Cup not only cultivates leadership skills but also cultivates the values of being supportive, honest, responsible, and understanding to evaluate objectively.
“Tonight, the students have shown their best ability to work in non-academic fields. This will give students experience and build themselves to be better in the future”.
Although the Rector's Cup activities have been closed, Fauzan hopes that student activities in non-academic fields will continue. It helps develop the talents and interests of students. "Activities like this must be maintained and preserved. Losing is normal, but if you win, it will be extraordinary," said Fauzan.
On the other hand, the Daily Supervisory Board (BPH) UMM Dr., Drs. Joko Widodo, M.Sc., expressed his highest appreciation to the students and the campus that has held this Rector Cup event. It will bring an ecosystem of continuous achievement to UMM students. It is also in line with the slogan of UMM; namely, there is no day without accomplishment, and no attainment is not appreciated.
"I am amazed by the various innovations and creativity that are always updated in every UMM Rector Cup implementation. Congratulations to students who won the championship and those who have not achieved success. Don't give up because there are still further opportunities," said the assistant chancellor for student development. (cdr/*syi)
