A visitor of Science Festival is taking a selfie with foreign students |
The International Relationship Office (IRO) of Universit of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) cooperated with Institut Francais d’Indonesie (IFI) Surabaya in holding the photo exhibition themed “Bumiku, Sayangku! Pertanian dan Perubahan Iklim” the event lasted for a week, September 11-18 2015 on the GKB I bridge, UMM.
The exhibition is one of the agendas of science festival held by Institute Francais annually. The institute aimed to encourage people to care about the environment and earth through science festival in 90 countries on southern hemisphere, including Indonesia.
“We chose the theme because our earth gets worse due to human deeds,” said Dina, the one who was responsible for the event. There were 12 photos from the collection of Ciradimages depicting devastated nature due to climate change and global warming. They were taken by the Cirad researchers.
Cirad is a French research institute cooperating with southern-hemisphere countries which strives to answer the international challenge in the field of agriculture and its development.
Dina also explained that the exhibition was aimed to galvanize youth into action to protect the earth from any harm. “Our target are the youths. That is why we hold the event in big campus, such as UMM,” she explained.
This is the second year of of IFI Surabaya cooperating with IRO UMM in science festival. According to Dina, the existence of UMM in cooperating with abroad institution is highly acclaimed. That is why IFI Surabaya along with Institut Francais France keep cooperate with IRO UMM for the upcoming events.
The assisstant Rector for International Relations UMM, Drs. Soeparto, M.Pd., said that UMM really welcome IFI for another event. “We really welcome this kind of event. This is an open-minding activity for UMM people. We could not wait for the next events,” he ended. (fid/han/t_far)
